This thin pattern top locknut comes in two size ranges and variations, Jam Hex and the smaller Machine Screw Hex. The locking thread distortion comes from a precise impression on the top of the nut. Jam Hex Top and Machine Screw Hex Top locknuts are not required to meet the thread start or torque requirements of Full Hex Center locknuts.

Applications

Jam Hex Top and Machine Screw Hex Top locknuts are selected when the application demands a low profile and can accept the proof load of the thinner nut. These products must be oriented with the locking feature on top for installation. Mating parts must extend at least one thread past flush with the nut top surface to assure locking element engagement.
