Heavy and Thick Hex NU
Product Description
Nylon insert locknuts are produced by forming and tapping nuts that include a tubular feature on top that receives a nylon ring. The tubular top is crimped to capture and hold the ring from spinning while the mating part self threads into the nylon during assembly. The nylon ring size and crimping process to secure the ring must be controlled to tight tolerances.
Applications
Heavy Hex NU Nylon Insert locknuts are selected when the application demands a greater across flats dimension to increase wrench or drive socket grip. As compared to All-Metal Locknuts, Nylon Insert Locknuts are less damaging to mating threads, but have lower heat limitations and over time the nylon develops memory and prevailing torque erodes.
