Product Description

The Acorn Nylon Insert locknuts are produced by forming and tapping nuts that include a tubular feature on top that receives a nylon cap. The tubular top is crimped to hold the cap from spinning while the mating part self threads into the nylon during assembly. The nylon cap size and crimping process to secure the cap must be controlled to tight tolerance

Applications

The Acorn Nylon Insert locknut is used for either decorative purposes and/or to protect from scratches when surfaces would otherwise encounter exposed screw threads. Acorn Nylon Insert locknuts are typically found in furniture and medical assemblies. Nylon Inserts are not damaging to mating part threads, but have temperature and torque erosion limitations.
