Torque & Tension Laboratory & Consulting – Decision Rule of Conformity

ISO 17025:2017 Clause 7.1.3 states the following:

When a customer requests a statement of conformity to a specification or standard for the test or calibration (e.g. pass/fail, in-tolerance/out-of-tolerance), the specification or standard and the decision rule shall be clearly defined. Unless inherent in the requested specification or standard, the decision rule selected shall be communicated to, and agreed with, the customer.

Torque & Tension Laboratory employs a Binary Statement Acceptance Rule when certifying test results:

  • A Passing result is reported when the measured value falls below the acceptance limit, AL = TL
  • A Failing result is reported when the measured value is above the acceptance limit, AL = TL

Where:
AL = Acceptance Limit; the specified upper or lower bounds of permissible measurable values for the specification
TL = Tolerance Limit; the specified upper or lower bound of permissible values for the specification.
